Intensive Treatment Service
The Intensive Treatment Service (ITS) is a specialized program offered through the Canadian Centre for CBT that delivers focused and highly structured care for individuals experiencing significant psychological distress. Designed for clients who require more support than traditional outpatient therapy but who do not need hospitalization, this service can include multiple therapy sessions per week, involvement from both psychology and social work, as well as individual CBT, couples or family therapy, and targeted interventions for interpersonal or functional difficulties. Care coordination with healthcare providers, community supports, and family members is prioritized to ensure a cohesive treatment approach. Clients can access comprehensive assessments, psychoeducation, skills training, and relapse-prevention planning as part of their care plan. The overall goal is to reduce symptoms, restore functioning, and equip clients and their families with practical tools for long-term recovery and resilience.

Massed Prolonged Exposure (MPE)
Massed Prolonged Exposure (MPE) is an intensive form of Prolonged Exposure (PE), a first-line evidence-based treatment for PTSD. MPE includes all core PE components—imaginal exposure to traumatic memories and in-vivo exposure to trauma-related cues—but is delivered over a condensed time frame (e.g., multiple sessions per day across one to two weeks). Please see attached research articles on MPE. Please contact Dr. Amanda Shamblaw, Ph.D., C. Psych. at a.shamblaw@canadiancbt.com if you would like additional information about MPE or to discuss your eligibility.
