Trauma-Focused CBT for PTSD

This practical workshop provides clinicians with a clear cognitive-behavioural framework for understanding PTSD and the ability to translate that formulation into focused, evidence-based treatment. Participants will learn how traumatic experiences can alter beliefs, emotional responses, memory, and patterns of avoidance; how these processes can maintain PTSD over time; and how CBT interventions can help clients process traumatic experiences and re-engage with their lives. The workshop will integrate principles and strategies drawn from established cognitive-behavioural treatments for PTSD, with particular attention to exposure, cognitive interventions, behavioural change, emotional processing, and addressing trauma-related beliefs such as guilt, responsibility, danger, and loss of trust.

Using clinical examples, participants will learn how to move from assessment and individualized case conceptualization to treatment planning and intervention.
